Hiding map elements

It is not necessary to delete map elements that you don't want shown in Map View: you can just hide them. This can be convenient when you've added information for your own reference but don't want it shown during a presentation or on the maps you print or otherwise distribute. Elements are hidden as a group by type, but cannot be hidden individually.

To show or hide map elements:

  1. Choose View > Show & Hide.

  2. Select the elements you want to hide; de-select those you want to show.

If you save the map with elements hidden they will still be hidden the next time you open the map. Hidden elements are not included on printed maps or in exported files.

Elements are hidden by type as a group, but cannot be hidden individually. If you want to hide individual topics, you can use the Filter command.
