Using Tag View

Tag view lets you quickly visualize the status, progress, and issues of elements within a project or workflow. You can sort a map based on tag groups within a map. This feature works well within workflow and process planning.

You can customize many elements of Tag view. You can move, rename, and delete Tag view columns. You also have the option of displaying topic formatting, such as shape or font. You can choose how to sort topics choose whether to show or hide subtopics.

To switch to Tag View:

Do one of the following:

  • To view the entire map in Tag view, click Tag in the View tab Document Views group.
  • To view individual tasks in Tag View, select the topic, click the Tag View arrow in the View tab, and choose Show Selected Topic(s) in Tag View.
  • To view a branch in Tag View, select a topic in the branch, click the Tag View arrow in the View tab, and choose Show Branch Alone in Tag View.

To return to the map, click Back to Map .

To choose a Tag View display mode:

  • On the Tag View tab, click View Tools, and choose a category from the Show drop-down menu. Kanban is the default tag group, which allows you to tag tasks as complete (Done) in progress (Doing), or not yet started (To Do). The view is modified based on the Tag category chosen and the number of those Tags in the map.

To tag an uncategorized task or topic:

  • Drag the task from the Uncategorized column to the column associated with the tag type that you want to assign.

To retag a task or topic:

  • Drag the task or topic from its current tag-type column to another tag-type column.

To mark a task as complete:

  1. Click the task.
  2. On the Tag View tab, and click Mark Done .

To navigate Tag View:

  • Use the Arrow keys to move between topics.
  • Press Tab to move to move forward or Tab+Shift to move backward in the history of selected topics.

To set the magnification level for Tag View:

  • Click Zoom on the View tab, and choose a zoom option.
    You can also zoom in by pressing Command+Shift+> and zoom out by pressing Command+Shift+<.

To customize Tag View:

To reposition Tag View columns:

  1. Control-click the column header.
  2. Choose one of the following:
  • Move Left
  • Move Right

To delete Tag View columns:

  • Control-click the column header, and click Delete.

To rename Tag View columns:

  1. Control-click the column header, and click Rename.
  2. Type a new name in the Name box, and click OK.

To add a tag group to Tag View:

  • On the Tag View tab, in the Tag Group drop-down menu, click Add New, and then choose a tag group.

To hide topic formatting:

  • On the Tag View tab, click View Tools, and in the Topic Formatting group, click Hide.

To show subtopics:

  1. On the Tag View tab, and click More Options.
  2. Check the Show Subtopics Icon box.

To hide a column:

  • On the Tag View tab, click Collapse button in the column header. To show the column, click the Expand button.

To set how topics are sorted:

On the Tag View tab, click the Sort drop-down, and choose one of the following:

  • Sort By Due Date
  • Sort By Start Date
  • Sort By Topic Text
  • Sort By Priority
  • Sort By Progress
  • Sort By Resources
  • Reverse Sort Order
