Getting started with Mindjet Files and Tasks in the cloud

Log in to Mindjet:

1. On the toolbar, click the Services toolbar button, and and choose Log In from the drop-down menu.
2. In the dialog, enter the email address and the password you created when you signed up for Mindjet.
3. Click Log In.

   Note: You can set an option in Mindjet MindManager > Preferences to log in to Mindjet automatically each time you start MindManager for Mac.

4. The Mindjet Files window opens.

Initially, the Mindjet Files window will be empty, and you will be the only user in your account. You can populate your account by creating and saving maps in Mindjet Files online, or uploading maps and other documents from your local system. Then, you can share these items to add other users to your account.

Once you have logged in you can also send topics from you map to create new Mindjet Tasks online.

To add content to an account:

Do any of the following:

• Create a new map: In the Mindjet Files window toolbar, click New > New Map. Double-click the map name in the document window to change it, then double-click the map icon to check out and edit the map. When you are done editing, choose File > Mindjet Files > Check In, then close the map.
• Upload a map or other file: In the Mindjet Files window toolbar, click Upload. Select a map or other file, and then click Open. The file is copied to Mindjet Files.
• Save a map to Mindjet Files: In the main Mindjet window, click File > Save or File > Save As. In the dialog's Save To: option, select Mindjet Files, choose a Mindjet Files account or folder where you want to save the map, and then click Save. Your map is uploaded to Mindjet Files online, and will appear in the Mindjet Files window's Files list.

  Note: The map you've saved online in Mindjet Files is not connected to your local copy.

Once you have added content to your account, you can share it with other people.

Share Mindjet Files documents with other people:

1. In the Mindjet Files window Files list, select the document you want to share.
2. On the Mindjet Files window toolbar, click Share.
3. In the Share dialog, you'll see a list of people you have already shared content with, or have added to your list of Mindjet Contacts.

   To share with someone in the list, select the person's name.

   To share with someone else, click Share With a New Person. Enter their contact information, and then click OK to return to the Share dialog where you can add more people to share with.

4. Choose the Access Level for the item you are sharing: Edit allows these people to modify the item, while Read-Only only allows them to view it. (If you are sharing a folder, this Access Level pertains to all its content.)
5. Click OK.
6. If you have chosen to share with people who are not already members in the account, you'll see the email message that they will receive, and you can edit its content. Click OK to finish the sharing process.

You can also share an open map that you have saved to Mindjet Files using the the Services toolbar button. In the drop-down menu, choose Share in Mindjet Files.

 

Existing users in the account will have immediate access to the item you shared. New users will receive an email with a link to the item. Once they join Mindjet, they can log in and access the document from any Mindjet application.

Send a topic to create a new Mindjet Task:

Note: You must be logged in to Mindjet to send topics to Mindjet Tasks.

1. Select a topic on your map that represents a task. The topic text will become the task name. You can use the Inspector to define the task info for the newly-created task: Start Date, Due Date, Progress, and a Mindjet Tasks resource.
2. On the toolbar, click the Services button, and then choose Send to Mindjet Tasks.
3. In the dialog, you can choose to send only the topic or include its subtopics (these become separate tasks), assign the task to an existing project or a new project you create on-the-fly, or leave it as an independent task not associated with any project.
4. When you click Send, MindManager for Mac communicates the new information to Mindjet Tasks. To see your new task using the Mindjet web application, click the link in the message that appears.

The task topic on your map is now linked to its corresponding Mindjet Task online. You can see the task online in Mindjet Tasks at any time by clicking the topic's hyperlink icon.

If you change the task's information on your map, it will be changed online in Mindjet Tasks as soon as the topic is synced. Likewise, if the task's info is changed from another Mindjet app, it will change on your map when it is synced. To sync the tasks on your map, choose Mindjet Tasks > Refresh All Mindjet Tasks in this Map.
